everyone should watch this video

I already made a bulletin post sharing this video but I wanted to make a permanent post with the embed so that more people see it because this is definitely worth watching even if you think you understand the basics of online safety.

I still think the section on parasocial grooming I pretty whack but I agree with literally everything else she says in the video.

I've actually shared my opinions on the government nanny bill known as KOSA before but it still felt refreshing hearing her say exactly how bad and counter productive both measures like that and stupid kiddie spyware tools are. The people who write those laws and sell those programs don't actually care about the development of a teenager into an adult or consider the "uncomfortable" facts of life one eventually must learn during the course of puberty and dipping your toes in the dating pool for the first time.

They say before convincing the parents that schools will do it for them. It's really horrible what purity culture has done to this nation. It just eats away boundaries and education like acid while the people pouring that acid fucking everywhere act like they're doing a service when they're not. It's so insidious and cruel when religious doctrine informs policy like this.
