Xbox Controller Dillema

So, I just bought this Rock Candy Xbox 360 controller (Image below) from the thrift store that came out in 2013 and was brand new in the box, and I really want to open it so that I can play Yandere Simulator with it n shit, you know, actually enjoy using it like anyone would.

Thing is, part of me also wants to preserve it's monetary value should I need to sell it in the future for anything. 

So I'm completely stumped on what to do here. 

Should I open it?
