A Deltarune Bulletin. (Games Playing Right Now #15)

This was gonna be a full post in prep for any thoughts about Deltarune, but it ended up just being a good time, period. There were some fun mechanics I will remember and some neat stuff, but this is a "play game. nuf said" kind of game. I wrote this bulletin, but that's about all I ended up writing.

I'm guessing these weird bulletin only posts will happen from time to time, but as long as I write, it works. Just gotta remember to save each post to a new blog post rather than the same Diary just so they appear in the recent blog posts page. :P

Woah. [Deltarune Ch. 3 secrets spoilers]

First super boss of the new chapters has started quite rough. To put this into perspective, I am able to beat both Jevil and Spamton in one go easily. I had struggled on them originally and remembered their patterns, but I'm still impressed with myself every time I do it.

This one is a real pain.

To start, I thought the boss attempts can only be done after beating Tenna at first, but quickly realized you can save right before it. Not an issue besides some wasted initial time that could have been completely avoided. The real tough part with my current strategy is the boss being long and has really tough fundamental attack patterns. Each attack goes in order and as the fight goes on and those patters get harder variations as you cycle through them. Unfortunately, the strategy has to play around the extremely high damage to all but the party member with the Shadow Mantel equipped. (The mantel is gotten through a secrets thread in chapter unrelated to fighting the boss.) This means it's really easy for the party to die making keeping pace really tough. It usually comes down to one party member having to use all their actions to attack with TP and heal which isn't fast enough to win before the harder attacks.

I'm hoping some developments come around. It will take a long time with my current pace, but I might be able to get through the fight if my strategy changes. I'm hoping I don't have to use good items though, although I don't remember if the Shadow Crystals can be gotten through the pit in Castle Town like the respective equipment.

Sike!!! I beat them. You don't need to get through the full healthbar. You can beat them at the half way mark or less. I did beat them with violence, however there didn't seem to be any other option. I plan to look into if it's possible to beat them passive and get a piece of armor instead, but I doubt this one will be like that.

It's pretty fundamental. As long as you are smart with how you equip and use items, the only tough part is the bullet patterns and getting grazes for TP. Don't forget the tip from Sean (pronounced shawn) from the previous chapter as well.
