4-6 June, 2025.

On the third, I finished reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a book which I read in full in less than eleven hours between doing other things and attending my classes that has quickly become my new favorite story. I couldn't put it down when I picked it up, it was beautiful and hurt me in the best possible way. It made me feel real for a minute, and it was like somebody truly understood me for once in my life. I'll write more about it another time. Right now, I want to get down the last few days.

My English final was an exit essay about relating what we read to our personal growth this year. My second response was where I related my personal experiences with love to a tragic romance we read, and I probably shouldn't have been so descriptive, but I trust my teacher not to make anyone else aware of those details. I played another open mic. Little Fury Things, Freak Scene, and The Sun Woke The Whole State, all on acoustic. The first two went well, the third I biffed a bit.

I didn't get my final project done in biology, so upon my late entrance my teacher told me I should just leave because I had no reason to be there. I went to the ROTC area and taught myself to play Half A Person. The Spanish written final, I think I did okay on. Two of my friends visited my room, which is something that never happens and I was really happy about that. We went to go visit one of our favorite local musicians, then they left and I spent a few hours around there and played alone at the town amphitheater while it was empty. I returned to my room, ate something, and passed out.

My friend and I played Freak Scene in the hallway and pissed off a teacher. Third period passed, I listened to music. Sixth period passed, I went outside and strummed. Immediately afters sixth period, we plugged the amplifier into the stage that stands in the middle of the main area and turned the volume up as loudly as possible. Then, we played Freak Scene again, and I did Little Fury Things alone after. We left, and I walked down to attend my friend's very, very awkward birthday party. I was there for something like seven hours, so I'll write down the parts I remember the most. I said only one sentence to her mother, not a word to the others, before another friend I actually talk to arrived and I relaxed a little bit. We both talked about how it was pretty lame because we didn't know anyone there and they were giving us rude looks, and then we pretty much stalled in the birthday friend's room until she had to leave, about an hour later. While we were in there, I corrected the Bm chord diagram that was on the wall and tuned her guitar properly, played a little on it. It was her father's before hers, and it's a really nice guitar. We did go out to get food, but that took less than a few minutes. Then, she left, and it was me with a couple of the birthday girl's friends who really didn't like me, all in that room. One of them was trying to find things to make me sound like a dick, but eventually we warmed up a little and started talking politics and whatnot. There was another boy there who hardly said a word. He mostly sat on the floor in a ball, watching and listening. I like him. Then we moved around and talked a bit. Time passed, and as the darkness set in the two who were dating went to go make out in the jacuzzi, while the other two and I [quiet one and the palest boy I've ever met] went elsewhere. They went back outside, while I minded my own business in the corner of the birthday friend's room, practicing Half A Person and talking to another friend on my phone. Eventually, it was time to leave, and her mother said I wasn't allowed to leave on foot and so I hitched a ride with the others. Then I went into my room and passed out to Half A Person.
