The Conclusion page to my IGB120 Blog

08/06/25
Hello all! Hello! My name is Kieran Deo and this is the LAST blog post for my work in the IGB120: Intro to Game Design unit for semester one. Throughout this unit i had developed games with the program "GDevelop" and as referenced notes taken from the "Game Design Workshop: A Playcentric Approach to Creating Innovative Games, Fourth Edition" textbook. I believe i have completed my original objective of building and playtesting prototypes made on GDevelop in order to learn the basics of game development and design.

As always, all my prototypes i had developed will be linked in the scroll box under the "people I'd like to meet" section of my profile. This will be a brief summery of what I had achieved

PLATFORMER

The platformer was the first project i had worked on for this unit. "Whats this Seals Deal?" is an endless side scroller. during development of this game, I had learnt the basics of how to utilize Gdevelop as a game engine.

ASTEROIDS

the asteroids shooter was the second prototype i worked on. "As-DEStroy-id" was probably the weakest in terms of game design. This prototype served the purpose of letting me learn and test different behaviors and extensions.

RACER

The racer was the third prototype i had worked on and is probably my favorite out of the 3. "Dragon Champions" is a dragon themed racer that i really enjoyed making. This is because i was able to combine all the knowledge i had gathered from all my other prototypes and stick it into this one.

GROUP PROJECT

The group project was the final project i had worked on during this unit. I had learnt how to run and lead a team of people to innovate over an existing project of mine (my racer prototype). At the end of this one I managed to successfully allocate and complete tasks set for the team and I. We also learnt a lot about playtesting in this project as we were given a template on how to formally playtest naive play testers and how to move that to deep playtesting.

Concluding thoughts:

After this experience i think its safe to say that what i have learnt now, can be applied for the rest of my experience during this university course. This includes the initial formationation of game ideas, the iterative process and how to playtest my games!

Well anyways with that being said, Kieran signing out!
