I Write Because I Must

To Those Who Read, Thank You

I’ve written more than a hundred poems and blog posts by now — and still, it never feels like enough. I always want to write more. A writer doesn’t speak; a writer writes. Even if people won’t listen, at least they can read and catch a glimpse of what’s inside our hearts and minds.

Sometimes it’s frustrating to know that I’ll probably never be famous — and not even all of my friends here read what I post. But I am so grateful for the ones who do read and appreciate my words. That means more to me than you could ever know.

Not long ago, someone left a hateful comment on one of my posts: “Go make some friends or something.”
To which I replied: I do have friends. If you don’t like my writing, you don’t have to read it. You certainly don’t need to leave unwanted comments on someone else’s work.

I wasn’t trying to be rude, but honestly — some people... Anyway, she came back to say: “See? Proving my point that you don’t have a life, because you replied to me.”

Wow. Okay. I ended up deleting that poem because it made me feel awful. But then — some of you began commenting more, sending me messages in private. That truly meant the world to me. Thank you.

I don’t want fame. I just want to be understood by those who seek my words. I love you all for being here.

And just so you know: it’s true that when I have free time or inspiration, I write in my notes and post here. My writing comes from everywhere — my friends, my family, nature, love, even darkness or hate, depending on my mood, what I’m listening to, or who I’m thinking about.

That’s why I write so much, so often. But I’m also busy living life — out in the city with my friends, in the countryside with my family. I write when I have time.

Right now, I’ll be pausing for a bit — university and exams are keeping me busy. But when I’m free again, I’ll be back here, writing as always.

Bye bye for now.
Love,
Onnaya
