the hand i held 

no longer reaches for me

her heart now bleeds

& no longer beats for me

they tell me “be still”

but how long 

do i have to wait, until

the next words i read

reveals

“the end”?

i watch my chapter close

“be still”

and begin, again

the lips i kissed

no longer desire me

the love i gave her

is the love that retired me

if only happily ever afters

were real

if only the life i had

was my life..still

the book is closed

chapter is read

maybe we’ve already acquired

the limit of

“i love you’s” ..said
