Movies Lamby Watched Recently

Majority of these r horror movies,, have a lot of gore and nudity in them, so pls watch at ur own discretion if you are planning to

there's this website called doesthedogdie.com which can help you discern on whether or not you'll be able to//want to watch it

anyways yeah

The Thing ((1982))

I like this movie, it was very fun to watch. I have a bit of face blindness so it was hard for me to tell apart the characters but as the movie progresses it becomes easier. For the first 20 or so minutes of the movie i was audibly saying, "NO! DOGGIE!!!!! WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT" "awww doggie :3" and "oh nooo. doggie :-(" other such and so expressions. I had to remind myself it was a movie, and also the dog is my favourite actor in it. I hope it had fun filming the film and was given aplenty of treats.

I like the how the film really makes you not know who to trust. It really gives the viewers a feeling of paranoia and I like that you're not even able to trust the main characters, or seemingly 'good' ones. In The Thing there are no Good or Bad ones. They are all on the table, suspectible to Not Be What They Seem. Very on point with the film which is nice.

Also I didn't know that it was a John Carpenter directed movie which is the guy who did They Live which is pretty cool.

It was a very fun watch and I'd definitely watch it again for horror movie nights. It'd be a lot of fun watching it with people who've never seen the film, or who have forgotten the details of it.

Scream ((1996))

I liked watching the movie, it was entertaining and thrilling.

Watching it I realised that Scary Movie is basically a parody of scream. I knew it was a parody of a scary movie but I didn't know it was this one specifically so it was fun to be able to get those references.

I think this movie makes a lot of references. I don't get all of them but it's fun to get the ones that I do get, I guess. I now understand why it has such a big fandom on Tumblr. Like it's not something I think I'd be in, but I get why it's so popular.

Overall, it's fun to watch and I was squealing a lot during the movie. Literally like , ""aaaaaaaaaa NO NO NO NO NO LOOK OUT" Do I particularly like the plot or have much to comment on the twists and turns? Not really. I can't relate a lot so I think it's just Okay. You watch the movie for thrilling scary slasher film which comments on the slasher genre and horror movie survival tropes and makes a bunch of references, and you get a thrilling scary slasher film which does exactly that.

Helter Skelter ((2012))

I really love this movie. Right of the bat, I'm reminded of movies like Noriko's Dinner Table , Parasite , Love Exposure

Films that I really like which all have a similarly strange avant-garde type style of narration. I like this movie a lot, and I can find myself relating to the feeling of basing your entire self over something, and having that thing suddenly pulled away. You have to let go. You can't. You don't want to. You become deranged.

I love the use of colours and symbolism in this movie. I think the cinematography is very well done. I especially love the contrast between colours and the framing in a lot of the scenes. I'm intrigued a lot by the wardrobe and set design choice and I think it was done very well. I feel like this movie has a lot of thought put into it to make it as good as it is.

It's difficult to tell when the movie might end, and I think that's a wonderful thing. It also has a very good soundtrack, and I recognised Jun Togawa's Mushi no Onna playing. And I think it was a very good song choice for that part of the movie. The use of baroque(?) classical(?) whatever you call it, instrumental music, is a really good fit for this movie. I don't think it'd work as well without it.

Aside from that I love how Lilico is never portrayed as a good person. She does horrible terrible things and makes terrible horrible choices but you still feel pity for her and may even root for her, even without the aide of a sad backstory. Because the 'sad backstory' is her. It's happening right in front of our eyes. Unfolding in real time, all the reasons why she is the way she is. Her actions are still terrible, but you can see why she so desperately and willingly does them with or without second thought.

『あたしのこと好きですか?』we see her ask multiple times over the film, akin to characters like kuchisake onna from Japanese Folklore. Asking a question which you can't really answer in any right way except for the exact thing they want to hear. And eventually, later on in the movie, she does become something like one.

Lilico desires attention, she desires fame, but most of all she desires the "love," from that attention, from the crowd.

And to continue being loved you need to be beautiful. So she does everything in her power to maintain that status. To maintain that symbol which brings her affection. But you can't be beautiful forever, the film says, you will have to let go of it eventually. The film is Lilico having to come to terms with that. Does she ever? Who knows. It'd be pretty spoilery so you should watch it yourself :-]

It's not for everyone, it has a lot of unsavoury scenes, a lot of sexual scenes and a lot of unsavoury topics like drug abuse, so please watch at your own discretion. Even if you don't watch the film, I really reccomennd listening to the soundtrack because I think even just that part of it is really nice.
