I took out the peas today and got 3 more tomato plants - they will go in tomorrow (5/30 - the first group went in on 5/9). There's also a very small volunteer tomato that I may just leave because I am kind of curious about what the fruit will be like.
The pea removal required a lot of untangling and cleaning. It was very powdery mildew coated.
Other small things - using up my weird cardboard 6 packs. Planted (on 5/21) one with Mammoth sunflowers (of unknown age) and the other with a bean variety.. the brown ones.. burpee stringless something like garden wonder... that were supposed to be sold in 2020. HAH. Trying to use some stuff up. I also used my ancient dill seeds that were supposed to be sold in 2017 (planted 5/19). Sooo. I haven't seen anything yet. Not really surprising.
Nothing doin at the community garden. I think.. it's possible that the rabbits and the rats like to eat my plant sprouts! But the ones that are established are doing great? The watering schedule, I have learned from a manager of sorts, is Tuesday Thursday Saturday for 20 minutes (drip irrigation, I do not have direct access to the controls) which seems pretty good?? So idk I'll keep trying but I'm mostly focusing on transplanting.
So I broke out the big guns - a giant bag of green beans that I found on a dried plant in the community garden last fall - and I'm soaking them and trying to sprout them on paper towel bc I wanna see what's going on with all my beans! What's happening!
The Clarkia have very tentatively started blooming, today and yesterday. The largest mallow in the front yard in the ground, yesterday. I'm giving it evening water, there is no drip irrigation. I currently have a sort of salad bucket filled with dirt and seeds but that's a different story.
