i've been starting to put in genuine effort to treat my sensitive tummy a little bit better. i have sucrose and fructose intolerance- it's like lactose intolerance but less common and with a different type of sugar. sucrose is usually found in candy and table sugar, and fructose is found in fruits and non-diet soda.
then it gets complicated. most simple carbs- white bread, pasta, white rice, potatoes- break down into sucrose or fructose as well. basically, almost anything sweet or with plain carbs is a no-go.
so essentially, if i were to adhere to my dietary restrictions and eat only what doesn't hurt my stomach, i would have to eat keto, along with whole grains. fml, i dont wanna do that. and it certainly doesnt help when everyone around me is inconvenienced by it- i would be greatly limited in what restaurants i could go to, and sharing food with friends would be basically impossible. no more scooby doo pizza nights i guess. sigh.
does anyone have any advice for someone with a very restrictive diet? do you have to avoid certain foods too? how do you navigate life while still treating your body with care? i'm really tired of feeling sick.
i love you all. <3

I haven't been diagnosed with anything yet but I've been dealing with digestive issues that have been slowly getting worse for almost 2 years. lately I cant even eat enough to maintain my weight. I'm still understanding what foods hurt and what foods are better for me. what helps me is being grateful for what I can still eat, and just being understanding and gentle with myself.
you are not an inconvenience, and never apologize for doing what best for you. take care! 🩷
thank you <3

it sucks to feel like an inconveniece but ITS FOR YOUR HEALTH AND WELLBEING!!! dont let anyone make you feel bad about it!! anyone who doesnt have dietary issues doesnt get how hard it is for those of us who DO... like we have to be so careful about what we eat or the consequences can be agonizing! its hard to find restaurants that will cater to your diet. you cant enjoy your favorite snacks and have to watch everyone else around you pig out on your fave foods while you weigh whether the repercussions are worth it

and the sighs and eyerolls and guilting and "playful" jabs from friends and family about how "picky" you are and how "hard" it is to cook for you/work around your diet. this stuff can be (and often is) disabling! so yeah dont feel bad about it!
ty <3 its nice to hear that im not alone
