Soft Updates

Updates on a few different things that I have been observing and just a few things I have done recently,

  • BEANS.
  • They are coming up, slowly. In a way it hasn't been that long. I've got two so far and I think they are the purple ones. Luckily I have a lot of backups in case these don't germinate. I could start them in a 6 pack if I wanted.

  • Snap Peas
  • Doing good, the ones in the ground are happier, so much so that they're actually top-heavy and falling over. Still alive though! Need to haul them up with a supporting rope or something.

  • Squarsh
  • Tentative sprouts in containers. hard to say. I put some additional backup seeds in with the bean plot on the third (I only know this because there is an empty packet of summer squash with '5/3' scrawled across it. Thank you, past me, at least for the murder mystery-esque clues.)

  • Native plants
  • Right now things are quite. The mallow is winding down from blooming. The roots are already starting to peek out the bottom of the pot!! I think the artemisia is dead... unfortunate.. it was just too little to be moved. I think maybe a similar thing has happened with another tiny mallow.

I'm getting a small group together to weed the front yard of a community college sustainability center! Hopefully that will be chill

  • Radishes
  • took em out. all done. Most were insanely spicy but the greens were good and they were more radish shaped compared to last year.

  • Tomatoes
  • Can you believe it... I'm on time? Kind of? I got two sungold from a nursery today and planted them (today, 5/9, for what it's worth). Tried to get a third of the stem buried (this is a root thing). I scattered basil seeds a few days ago (in the formerly radishes->now tomatoes area) but I think the disturbance in the soil from planting the tomatoes may have scrambled them a little. time will tell.

AN EDIT I FORGOT TO ADD!
  • GRAFTS!
  • ITS HARD TO TELL BECAUSE THEY'RE UP KIND OF HIGH (my bad!!!) but the one on my little tree is looking... ok??? kind of dehydrated??? did some slow + intense watering yesterday + today so we'll see???
