Hard to reach area

My summary of my trip:

I didn't really do anything else fun, just worked three twelves and then on Wednesday a half day and went to lunch with my team after.  I was annoyed that our business partner didn't provide the staff they committed to in the contract so my team and I had to do a lot more than we expected and it was pretty disorganized.  By the grace of God, we pulled it off and the event went well.  Personally, I didn't find the content super valuable, except the final day, but people seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I got a lot of exercise though.  The venue was gigantic and I was running around a lot between different areas.  My feet hurt so much by my the end that I felt like I had just been to Disneyland.

I got hit on by three customers 🤦‍♀️...

I had brought my own car on my own dime so I could have my privacy and independence during the trip.  And I just brought groceries from home instead of eating out so the per diem will pretty much cover it.  The hotel was nice so I spent most of my off time in my room and watched cable and ate fresh strawberries.  That's about all I had the energy for anyway.  I finished watching the anime Kobato, another gem from the Clamp manga universe.  One of my favorite movies was on: The Other Woman.  That one never gets old.  But this time, it reminded me of my friend who is going through a divorce because her husband cheated on her.  It's good to have that reminder that there is life after love, like that one Cher song from the 90s.  My friend is going to be fabulous.

The restaurant we went to after was a cool place but the food was over-rated (and over-priced too, but my employer at least paid for it).  But it's just not a good culture where I work so whenever we're forced to socialize it's very awkward.  Everyone was just on their phones and my boss was acting like a child that needed his nap.  And the food took forever to come out so we were stuck there for like two hours.  Excruciating.

Highlight: on the drive home, I saw a baby horse in a pasture.  So precious.

When I got home, I took a nap and then went to a friend's house where we binged Vinland Saga and ate pizza.  Now, I wouldn't have picked this but my friend really loves this show so I gave it a try.  We watched the first eight episodes.  I thought the historical details were really interesting and well executed, and the story is compelling.  However, I don't think I can continue watching it.  It's just too violent.  I can't watch that kind of stuff.  I was ok for the first few episodes, they weren't really showing the gore, but when it started showing them raiding the villages, that was just very disturbing.  I don't really get how people find that kind of thing entertaining and want to watch it repeatedly.

But I invited my friend to go to an anime festival with me later this month and it looks like he's going to be able to make it, so I'm looking forward to that.  I had some good conversations with the other people who were there too and got to know one person a little better who I had only met recently.  So that was cool.

The best thing about my trip was having two extra days off.  Thursday was a hot day here, so after going eyeglasses shopping in the AM, I spent the afternoon at the beach.  There was a guy showing off his seadoo and giving girls rides.  And there were some kids playing on paddle boards who got scolded by the sheriff when he pulled up in his boat.  There was someone walking. A tight rope, so that was fun to watch.  I started reading a new book, which made me cry because it's about foster care which is something close to my heart having worked in foster care and having two family members adopted from FC.  I put sunscreen on but there was a hard to reach area on my back that got burned so I've been nursing that the last couple of days.

I'm awake at 4am because my stomach is feeling a little queasy.  I'm going to take something and try to go back to sleep.

Have an amazing day and thanks for reading this long post.

I do implore you to keep watching Vinland saga. Despite how it may seem at first, from what I have heard, the violence actually begins to die down as the MC learns that a life of violence is not a way to live and learns how to live a truly peaceful life. All hearsay of course.

Thanks, that's good to know. We had another watch party last night and I was able to get through episode 14 so we'll see how it goes. I liked the part where he tells the slave girl about Vinland and I really like the prince also. I'm sort of motivated now to watch and see what happens to him
