about why anakin skywalker is a great representation of bpd

on the top of my head i can think of the moment in mustafar where anakin says "if you're not with me, then you're my enemy" and obi-wan says "only a sith deals in absolutes" which is a great example on how people with bpd see the world as only black and white & no greys. anakin doesn't deal in absolutes because he is a sith, he does it because he has borderline personality disorder.

after he was separated from his mother and his mother's death which left him in great trauma; he also deals with the loss of qui-gon, a father figure. he's feeling a guilt beyond measure at this point. which is common among people with bpd, a thought process that goes like "i should've done better" or in anakin's words "i won't fail again"

then there's the every person with bpd's common trauma: narcissistic parents. which in anakin's case are the jedi council. the way he's always trying his best just to get one small compliment (which in most cases he doesn't receive) makes him question his worth all the time.

when he meets padme and receives unconditional love, he does what every person with bpd does: assigning her as a favorite person. from this moment on anakin's life rotates around padme and only padme. but in certain scenes - for example whenever padme suggests opening up about their problems to obi-wan - we see anakin splitting, feeling far from loving padme, even hating her. which is why he flames up all of a sudden. and when in mustafar padme doesn't agree to join him - also seeing obi-wan with her - he splits completely. he splits against obi-wan too, for not taking his side.

considering i'm not a professional, i only wrote this from my perspective and thinking abaout my own experiences so if i said anything wrong, feel free to tell me.

i'd like to talk about kylo ren too since he's my favorite. i can't really diagnose him as good as i can do with anakin but he does have these key points too:
- betrayal from parental figures at young age (han solo being an absent father figure, leia being too busy to take care of him, luke trying to kill him)
- narcissistic higher figure who only compliments him when he does what he says (snoke)
- chronical emptiness
- favorite person (rey)
- a temper he can't control
- "forgive me, i feel it again, the pull to the light. supreme leader senses it. show me again the power of the darkness and i will let nothing stand in our way, i will finish what you started." (he's ashamed of his feelings and believes he should push himself harder)

and more i believe
