As the title say. I am open to A LOT of ships, but if your OTP involves real life people don't talk to me.
I know it's like a culture in some fandoms. I have friends who are active in k-pop spaces and I know there it's really normalized. One of my friends even is an author of popular fanfic involving idols and it does make me uncomfortable, but what can I do.
But why I consider shipping bullying? Because I've been in two fandoms, but there are probably bunch of other examples, where irl shipping was a problem. What fandoms? Eddsworld and DMSP (pretty sure BeeDuo stopped streaming together because people kept shiping them, i might be wrong tho). In both spaces people involved were vocal about their discomfort considering shipping, yet people kept doing it. And I just must ask - why? If you're a fan of said creators why would you be so open about breaking their boundaries? And if you did that because you were not a fan of them, then IT IS literally bulling.
Ah, and also I've been bullied in school like that. Group of people were "shipping" me with a class loser, for what other reason as if not to make fun of me? After that I'd go home and make yaoi pairing with them as a way of coping. The more I disliked one person the more ships I've made with them.
I know that shipping is an integral part of fandoms, don't get me wrong. Doesn't make shipping unconsenting real life people any less weird.
