EELS

Okay, so I love the band Eels, like so much. You might know his music from Shrek 'I need some sleep'.
It's actual art, the music helped me so so so much.
Every album is different and some even have a theme.

For example: Blinking Lights and other Revelations is called 'Blinking lights' because the album is like that! It's a positive song - negative song - positive song - negative song... and so on.
It's much like his life! It has calm moments and also quite some shocking things.

Then there is the album "Electro-shock blues".
It's his second album, for Mark Oliver Everett this album was to deal with the passing of his mom, his sister (and his dad). His producer strongly adviced him not to publish it but he did anyway.
Songs like 'Elizabeth on the bathroom floor' discuss his sisters passing, 'Cancer for the cure' was for his mom, last remaining family member. 'P.S. you rock my world' was also for his sister, he was quite close with her. I'm not even sure if this album is actually also dedicated to his father, he wasn't as close with him.

His first album, 'Beautiful Freak' is his most popular work!
With songs like: Novocaine for the soul, Susan's house, beautiful freak and my beloved monster.

The songs that helped me most are: Mistakes of my youth, Are we alright again, Hey man! (now you're really living), Trouble with dreams and Somebody loves you.
From the albums: the cautionary tales of mark oliver everett, earth to Dora, Blinking lights and Shootenanny!

Last year he released a new album! 'EELS TIME!' And I love it, it's something new but not bad!

Thanks, Mark Oliver Everett for turning your experiences into music and sharing them with the world, it helped me and many other people.
