one of the downsides of using spacehey is that many people are not willing to actively use this platform - so it ends up with a lot of people just having "ghost accounts". it's there, but they're not using for like, a month or so.
i honestly kinda get it. the shorts format has kinda fucked up our attention span and when you have something more mundane such as spacehey, people don't know what to do. they don't see much content in reading about other people's lives. they want content. they want something that keeps their attention.
one of the many reasons i like spacehey is that it looks to avoid everything i mentioned before - it's not something to maintain your attention. YOU choose to stay, YOU decide what you read, and this kind of freedom instead of watching a quick video recommended through an algorithm.
the thing is - now the majority of people don't like this. at first, it seems good, because now spacehey becomes more niche, and it becomes a much less bloated place - however, it kinda saddens me that sometimes i'm knowing someone new via IMs and from out of nowhere, they just dissapear. they forget to come back. THIS is the bad side.
so, i think imma clean up my friend list for now, removing inactive people. and that's it, there's some really cool friends i have here that still remain active and i like them! hope to meet more tho.

I wish SpaceHey had a bit more of that modern Insta vibe. I get they’re going for that early 2000s MySpace throwback, and that’s cool and all, but it’d be sick if they added a photo feed- like old-school Instagram. That 2016 look but with some current features slapped on. Still keeping the whole old web revival thing, just... updated a bit. I feel like if they added a proper photo feed or something visual to chill with, way more people would stay active. Blogs are dope, don’t get me wrong, but after a while it’s just walls of text, man. I’ve been in and outta my SpaceHey phases, and honestly I wanna go full gremlin mode on this site, (chronically online final boss) but it’s tough when there’s nothing to just scroll through and zone out.
It would be interesting asf too, because it would feel like scrolling through the alt version of instagram haha
the ideas you told were interesting! although this isn't the point of spacehey. i like the walls of text :)
also if you plan on just being chronically online here - honestly, don't. i think the "walls of text" thing can help on not wanting to stay here much. i do open this website a lot but i also gotta take care of my own life. i've been a chronically online dude before and it was NOT fun

God this is so true. i think what really contributes to this is that while SpaceHey is more on the user friendly theres extremely low media engagement on the site because all you really can do is post blogs and forums and friend people. I wrote a blog today on how i think we could fix this problem too bleghhh I just think the site needs to be kind of mainstreamed more
ive just read your blog post on spacehey and i get you! new sections dedicated for other subjects, just like myspace did CAN help on making this website better - a lot of people here have announced bands and etc so this would be kinda cool

ahhh yes, exactly, i wrote a blog entry abt this exact same problem. it's pretty sad yo get in a strong friendly relationship with someone, then they just block u or disappear :(
yeah this sucks. i wouldn't say strong relationships for me because a lot of these people disappear after some days, but i imagine this situation being way worse. i'll check your blog post later!!

this is a very true experience!!!!! it sucks when i find a new person cool only for them to never use the site or engage with me ):
however i try to focus on the people that *are* engaged and its a much more better and fun experience!!!!! this site has been helped me open up about my dearest interests and journey in self-reflection and i couldnt be happier (:
yeah it is more fun!! also it's so cool that using it made effects on your self-reflection. that's actually so awesome

Yeah i feel you on this. I miss when the internet was a small little thing you could hop on and off without much hassle, but now its become this thing that follows you everywhere and fights for your attention every waking moment. It sucks ass
indeed!!
