Grafting part 2 + sprinklers

I grafted the three Hass scions today! I had to put them in the fridge when I got them (probably that was the 17th?) because I was busy so I'm a bit concerned about the viability but they looked to be in pretty good shape. As opposed to the Mexicola Grande scions that came trimmed & wrapped, these were Just Cuttings with all the leaves attached and everything so I needed to do that part too. Which was fine, it's all good practice.

I have to say, it's pretty hard because grafting 'tape' is really like saran wrap in skinny strips so it wants to stick to itself UNTIL you need it to stick to itself in which case it does Not. The tree I'm grafting onto is BIG! Which also made it hard because I needed to do things like cut the scion to size and wrap the whole thing up while on a ladder. 

I marked the Hass grafts with black electrical tap. I also repotted and grafted an avocado that I grew from seed and I'm 50/50 on its survival. Did you know they don't sell those skinny long sapling pots in nurseries? The guy at the hardware store told me that that's the type of thing you would probably have to buy in bulk from suppliers... boo

Anyways. removed the irrigation pipe around the buckwheat and capped it. Moving into 2x month deep watering (that I need to put on my calendar). 

Bladderpods, acorns, and squashes all quiet and still sleeping under the dirt. Compost + Leaf litter in the cc garden plot - there's a sugarcane issue but we're not getting into that right now. Checking seeds daily trying to be patient.
