its the school holidays, so 2+ weeks of complete free time, and for this past week all i have been doing is staying in my room and sitting behind my laptop. reading manga, consuming media, playing video games, really allowing myself to be immersed in a digital world. basically devoid of engaging much in real life things though. not eating much, not drinking water much, not excercising, not meditating, not going outside, not talking to people face to face much, not cleaning much my room or house much, not really doing much really. just so consumed by the screen, for usually 10+ hours daily. One of the things that would account to those hours of sitting behind my laptop screen would be reading 'Billy Bat' , its a really great manga, and i'd find myself reading it for over an hour without realizing. Its as though i was transported into the story, honestly, i'd feel so disconnected from reality whilst reading Billy Bat, i would be so pulled in by the the fiction that i'd seem to forget i was even real and alive, that i had a life. forgetting i had to do basic human tasks like eating or drinking or sleeping. i wouldnt even give time to my hobbies outside of a screen that i really like and want to do like piano, drawing and photography. same goes with video games and internet rabbit holes and movies and anime and researching random topics that peak my interest.
the digital and fictional world can sure consume you.
