The black queer experience

I'm a queer person of color,

Having to constantly push and pull between the two will be a lifelong game of tug of war for me. By being gay in itself I am shut out of a specific category of my culture and by being born of Jamaican descent I am cut out of a subsection of queer culture.

Queer people don't want to date the black one and black people don't want to date the gay one. (don't tell them I'm fat)

Finding a way to balance and validate the two is a job within itself.

I must take my identity, cherry picking and being a slight outcast to all subgroups because to everyone i will always be that weird one sitting on the end of the row by Themself.
