Haven't played GTA in a long time, I guess it just didn't feel fun anymore. But I booted it up last night and found myself recognizing landmarks from my route to work. Living in LA it was so interesting to walk around Los santos and be like "oh yeah I always see that brewery on my way to work."
Ofc when I tried to land on top of it somebody shot me out of the sky with a rocket launcher lmao
I remember what a weird feeling it was the first time I visited venice beach and the santa monica pier in real life. I remember realizing that the skyline was the same and that building endlessly under construction was a real building that really was endlessly under construction.
It makes me wonder if I would get the same feeling in new york or if I had played vice city would I recognize places in miami with the same uncanny feeling?
I think its so interesting the way rockstar has created such a complete digital monument/parody of LA and california in general. Its odd to think about how much time I spent growing up in that virtual space.
