the endless quest of "getting better"

entry 2: morning & routines

last entry | next entry

hi again! how is everyone doing? good? i hope!! i'm doing better since i last posted! :D

last entry i told you all about my quest to "get better" and the trouble i was having with my relationship with my phone! i am back to report that i do not have a solution to my problem, but i am feeling better!

i'm still facing issues with my phone, just not exactly the same ones.

right now, i keep my phone on my vanity when i go to sleep at night so when the alarm goes off in the morning i have to go across my room to turn it off.

this was working for awhile, and then it wasn't (i would turn the alarm off and get back into bed lol).

last night i changed the alarm time from 8:00am to 9:30am, and i woke up at 9:15am! did i get back into my bed after turning off the alarm?... well... yes, but i didn't fall asleep! i gave myself until 10am to scroll through instagram and then i got up and started my day!

so yay! progress wooooo!!!

if anyone has any advice about how they get themselves out of bed in the morning, i would LOVE to hear it! i don't know how long this routine will last so anything you have to say would be more than welcomed!

speaking of routines... i am curious to know what your routines look like! morning routine, night routine, any sort of routine!

if it wasn't obvious im neurodivergent (just thought i should clarify, i have been diagnosed with adhd, and am seeking an autism diagnosis,) so routines are both a struggle and something that i need to function.

i was watching this video about being a person with AuDHD and how to set a routine for yourself, and it was really eye-opening. she talks about the need for a routine, but also the need for some spontaneity and how she combines these in her everyday life.

im going to keep this in mind when i'm planning my ideal morning routine, and hopefully my next entry will be about what changes i have made!

that's all i have to share for today, but i have some other ideas for topics new entries could be, so keep an eye out! :)

have a great day!! <3

love,

gracie

you should download the alarmy app and choose the photo challenge. i still have my iphone around to use that and it works well for me. in order to turn off the alarm, i have to run across my room to my dresser, go into the kitchen, take pictures of my medicine, and then i just drink coffee or a red bull. works well for me.

just a warning though that app has banner ads and a premium service. dont use it if you dont like that. it is free though.

(TLDR; Lengthy comment about my routine)

I also leave my phone someplace else in the morning, for me near the foot of my bed. At first, I kept 3-4 separate alarms to go off 5 minutes apart to be sure I get up, but my body grew accustomed to waking up at that certain time. After I wake up, I brush my teeth, get dressed, do my hair, and eat breakfast in that order.

The rest of the day I just do whatever, including going to classes and doing chores. I use either Samsung's Reminder app or Google Calendar to set reminders, tasks, and chores for myself throughout the day, all spaced out so I don't lose motivation.

My night routine is really just taking a shower, changing into pajamas, and heading to bed. Good luck on your endeavors of getting better, stranger! :-)
