Meet Iere! Full name Iere Honeyholt, she's the last Lone Pine Mountain Devil, and she's on a quest to discover what exactly happened to her species. She may even uncover an even darker secret...
She's a bit feisty and mischievous, but is pretty kindhearted and helpful to a fault. Likewise, she can be incredibly hyper at times. She loves to draw and read nonfiction books, especially those on space.
The Lone Pine Mountain Devil, also known as Pine Devil or Mountain Devil, is a hoax-turned-urban legend that is frequently mistaken for an actual cryptid. Regularly described as a multi-winged creature with sharp talons and venomous fangs, the Lone Pine Mountain Devil originated from a now-deleted short film called "Mountain Devil Prank Fails Horribly," where the protagonists get attacked by a flock of fuzzy bat-like creatures. This differ significantly from the more "modern" version, which depict them as Dromaeosaurid-like creatures.
Also to add to this, some sources claim that the Mountain devils are guardians of nature, only attacking those who destroy the environment. This is clearly seen in the story found in almost all posts about the Lone Pine Mountain Devil; where in 1878, several settlers got killed due to cutting down trees to fuel the settlers' partying. The sole survivor of this incident being a priest, who described them as being "Winged demons from the depths of hell."
The reason why they may have been mistaken for an actual cryptid is because someone (Potentially one of the actors in the original short film) made a Cryptid Wiki article on them, without any mention of the original film besides the mention of 'several teenagers going missing in 2010.' Likewise, the original short film was deleted (Although reuploads still exist). Both of these combined, this resulted in the Lone Pine Mountain Devil accidentally 'becoming' a cryptid.
