IGB120 Asteroids Prototype Elevator Pitch

30/03/25 Pitching my next game!

This is my Asteroids pitch! this will be the next prototype game I will be developing:

Title: as-DESTROY-iod

Genre: asteroids/rouge-like hybrid in space

Synopsis: you play as a really pissed off sentient comet who was rudely awoken by a colony of asteroids so naturally you must DESTROY them all. as you destroy these asteroids you gain exp and levels to upgrade your current abilities and gain new ones! 

Controls

w, a, s, d to move around

space to shoot stars

hold z to charge and release a hyper beam 

Selling points:

1.  art style - i really want to incorporate a pixilated, MS paint art style to this game's assets, inspired by pizza tower and generally because that's what I use to draw normally

2. satisfying movement and attacking controls - I want the player to enjoy this main mechanic of shooting the asteroids by making the collisions and attacks flow well and integrate well in the game

3. powerups - because the power ups rely on the players ability to get exp it will make the player want to play the game more just to make the comet more powerful

Target audience: 

This game will be aimed towards people who want a challenge, this is because this game is meant to be stress relieving and, based on what I've read in the textbook, people may find that having focus on a challenging game actually reduces stress and make them more engaged.

A main inspiration to this game is the binding of issac
