The Windmills Of Your Mind

Awkward. I ended up rejecting the position after all, so no induction for me, and now I have Friday free to play around on Jamovi and study really hard for my stats quiz. Why did I do that? Well, the police clearance I applied for is taking forever, and I will probably hear back from them in a few weeks, which means I don't think I was eligible to sign a contract anyway. That aside, a few more job opportunities with previous supervisors and remote requests have been coming in, and they really are rivaling the 8 hours a week I would've spent with students - both in the job description and pay. Lucikly the HR people weren't too hard on me, and saw why this might be the case.

I spent a lot of yesterday on the phone with a first aid course and with IT support trying to figure things out. Then spent the afternoon grocery shopping with my Dad (who needed a few things himself), sitting around G26 (the psych research room) scheduling some emails manually (I got about 140 of them done), and then going to my family's place for dinner - fried squid, roasted potatoes, and about every single vegetable you could think of. Tonight, I will probably make chicken and zucchini burgers, they are really my favourite and have been sold out for a long time. So I was happily surprised to come across them again.

I'm writing this while watching a lecture on long-form personality assessments. I have been studying from home this week because the hot weather outside makes me easily nauseous and I tend to get temperamental when this is the case - I can hardly make conversation or keep my cool (haha), which means lectures are a no-go. It will hopefully be more mild next week, one can only hope. Easter long weekend coming up soon as well. Fire ban should be over.

Apparently there's some avian flu thing going around, and you can't buy eggs in the supermarket anymore. No, really, there are none. This is terrible news for someone who makes french toast every other night. I had to steal some from my parents, poor things. My dad proposes that this is all bullshit, though, and that 'avian flu' is secret code for beef between major farming corps and smaller farmers, which would be interesting if true. I have no way to confirm this.

I will try and pay attention now. And maybe tell you a bit about how we measure personality in the psych space (no MBTI, sorry).
