today i received my new tea plant in the mail! i am so excited and happy!! i went to Home Depot and got some moisture control soil and an unglazed terracotta pot for my new baby!!
the root ball is currently 3 inches and it even has a few large leaves! now that it is potted, i have to use my moisture reader to keep the soil at a level 5-7 (basically like a wrung out sponge)
one thing im worried about is the sunlight it needs and the temp of the soil since my house has no central heating and it’s just a baby (3 month old plant) but i have her in a south-west facing window
im only worried because there is a forest of bamboo outside the window but one good sign is that my mini monstera is thriving in that window (another plant that loves indirect bright light) so i think it will be okay
i bought a pH tester and need to put batteries in so that i can get a good reading. ive read on the web that you should treat the plant like a blueberry, so thats what ive been doing! i got some fertilizer way ahead of time that is for acid lovers so hopefully it flourishes over time
in 4 years from now, maybe ill have the best tea ever!!

Damn, that's cool. I would like to see a photo of this small plant. This is the first time I have heard that it is necessary to measure the pH in the soil. I wonder if this measuring device is reusable? Do you need to change any parts in it?
I’ll probably post a picture of it later today! Yeah the pH tester is helpful because sometimes plants are really particular about the soil they like. The pH tester I bought is reusable and it also has a fertilization tester to see if the soil is fertile enough
The problem I’ve been running into is that it stays on the very highest pH even when I dip the stick into a lemon (very acidic so it should move) so I have to do a little bit of experimenting
