cringe culture should come back

cringe culture was not even that bad. and no, i’m not talking about insufferable fanbases, or scenecore furry art or whatever the fuck that is. everything feels so bland now, like nobody is really into nerdy shit anymore, it’s kinda boring.

maybe i’m just feeling nostalgic but i kinda miss that cringy old era of the internet during quarantine. everybody was into nerdy shit, but that’s probably because we didn’t have shit to do. still, it felt like everything was still fine. 

like 2020-2022 were some of my favorite years, i wasn’t the best person, i wasn’t even a good person at all back then. but it’s just the things that were super popular and the stuff i was into back then were things i wish were still going on and were still popular to this day. 

the stuff i was into back then were the owl house, dream smp, helluva boss and other stuff. i know those things come off as cringy today, and i understand why, the fanbases of those things are HORRIBLE. but i feel like those things were cool and interesting, it’s just people don’t admit that they used to, or still like those things because the fanbases come off as “cringy”, which is lame as hell.

i feel like everybody pretends on who they are, like they try to pretend that they don’t like shit because they don’t wanna be considered weird. which is dumb, like kendrick lamar said, you ain’t gotta lie to kick it. i think that’s partially the reason why nobody likes shit anymore. i know i sound like a cranky mad person who just misses the past and won’t move on, but that’s just how i feel.

and everything feels bland now too, i feel like things were cooler back then. maybe it’s just my weird taste but there isn’t a lot of things that interest me outside of music. like i don’t see a lot of interests in tv shows, movies and other stuff. they all feel bland and non interesting. i feel like things during 2020-2022, the media during that time was more interesting and cooler in my opinion. i’m talking about shows like squid game, heartstopper, the owl house, stranger things 4. stuff like that were some of my favorites from that era. they were great and cool and interesting. the fanbases were probably ass but at least the shit was interesting. everything now just makes me feel empty and bored. not music though, music has been good, especially in 2024. 

maybe i’m just nostalgic, or something. i just miss things from that era, i’m just bored from everything that’s out right now.
