edgar the fixer-upper

hello all! i'm typing this from my 16 year old laptop, edgar. i love "old reliable" to bits, and i refuse to replace him, even though he can't run windows 11.

honestly, new tech can kiss my ass. you're telling me you want me to pay thousands of dollars for a computer that has 1 usb slot, no disc drive, and no user-swappable battery? fuck outta here. i'll stick with my dinosaur. sure he's falling apart and can barely run any modern games, but i don't care at all.

unfortunately, recently something happened with the charging port. something inside got bent (or more bent than usual) and now it doesn't charge during use unless you're REALLY lucky. right now is one of those lucky times. i'm not daring to touch the power supply because i know it'll give up on me with the slightest touch, and my battery lasts all of 45 minutes.

luckily, my dad has a replacement battery, charging port, and charger, which should fix the problem. he just has to open it up and put in the new hardware, which makes me nervous, but he has a lot of experience taking apart and fixing old computers. my first laptop was an already-obsolete ibm thinkpad that had been frankensteined together out of two broken laptops. i think edgar will be fine.
