I've been in Mexico for two weeks as of last Saturday. I must say things are (unsurprisingly) very different from California. For starters, me and BF can walk out at night without fearing for our lives as the city we're staying in is the safest there is. I much prefer walking out at night as we get California temps with jungle humidity.
I went and saw the pyramids in Chichen Itza on Saturday and it absolutely amazes me just how they were able to map out the days of the year with nothing more than some rocks and math. They were scholars before the other tribe invaded and introduced sacrifices. It's interesting though that the people were only conquered because one random chick decided to learn Spanish and acted as a translator for all the colonists. I wonder if she thought she was doing something good.
At first, souveneirs seem cool and nice, but it doesn't take long to realize that it's all the same stuff over and over and over with a different proce tag. It's also interesting being here with tourist money. I may have not had a job, but I saved up just enough from what I had and what I was given at my graduation that I can live quite comfortably.
The Miniso downtown has the official Miniso X My Little Pony collab which I've been trying to get my hands for since. I first saw it on instagram about a year or so ago! I got a toothbrush holder for my bathroom back home and a Pinkie Pie coin purse because the one I brought along broke on me. I also got something small for my sister. I'm really surprised I came across it because I was so sure it was only available in China and/or Singapore.
It's been such a relief to not have to worry about school anymore, but so dreadful to imagine myself having to resume job hunting when I return. I'm not going to think about that for now. I do miss home sometimes, but if I do, it's my pets, or my family, or hot instant ramen and really nothing about the city. I much prefer it here. I like being able to get aroung without fear or without needing to drive.
BF and I have some errands to run in the evening, so that's something nice to do later. For now, I'm just waiting out the heat. Maybe I'll go nap some more or something. I don't know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
