The Introductory page to my IGB120 Blog

Hello! My name is Kieran Deo and this is the first blog post of many which will be covering my work in the IGB120: Intro to Game Design unit for the semester. My aims include frequently posting on this blog about my development process on games I will be developing using the program "GDevelop" and as well as referencing notes taken from the "Game Design Workshop: A Playcentric Approach to Creating Innovative Games, Fourth Edition" textbook. This will all be combined to complete my objective of building and playtesting prototypes made on GDevelop in order to learn the basics of game development and design.

I came to learn games design and interactive environments because of my love of storytelling and art direction through different games. a great example of this is through my all-time favorite game "Night in the Woods" about the main character, Mae, navigating her life after dropping out of college and going back to her hometown all while a secret sinister aspect of her town brews in the background. I personally enjoy heavily story driven games, especially those that are made with the rpg maker program or just general passion project. I also really like platformers and puzzle games which have a strong focus on mechanics and movement and o hope one day I'll be skilled enough to make one of my own.

Recently I've played Cult of the Lamb (a roguelike dungeon crawler crossed with a town building simulator), Clinical Trial (an rpg maker suspense thriller visual novel) and Sonic Adventures 2 (i feel like that one is self-explanatory) so suffice to say that my taste in genre is very broad haha. Anyways that's basically it for my introduction, thank you for reading!
