on wednesdays we do rag out, where the two dollar rack must be put into green bags and sent to another store in the south east area. Despite having two full racks of discounted clothes, theres always a bunch of clothes throughout the store that need to be collected and bagged. this whole ordeal can take up to three hours if we've only got one or two people doing it, so to keep myself from getting bored I play this game where i have to guess whether the next item is going to be the $2 tag colour im looking for before i see it. its mportat to note that im flicking through each hanger super fast so i only get like half a second to decide. if i get it right, i win and im awesome and smart. if i get it wrong, it was a fluke mistake. this way I always win. sometimes i'll feel extra confident and i'll try and guess what colour the tag is based off vibes. when i get it right, its totally euphoric.
one of my Least favourite jobs is sorting through donations. Lord, the things we see!! it's also an extremely monotonous task that makes my arms shoulders feet and knees hurt real bad. go to the cage. pick up a trashbag. walk back to the table. heave it onto the table. pick an item. raise it to examine the full front and back. decide whether its able to be put out. if its not, throw it into statewide. if it is, throw it into the correct bin lined along the wall (if its manchester, mens, or outerwear youre going to have to piff it as they are the furthest away). repeat. and when you feel like youve made progress and the cage is getting freed up, more donations come in and your progress is reset. anyway. to keep myself sane during this boring and unrewarding task, i like to guess whether i think the item is going to be the super cheap stuff like Kmart, target, shein, another chain clothing store like valleygirl or cotton on or whatever which are generally considered a little better quality, or like a more expensive brand, before i see the label. sometimes, i think it's super obvious and then i guess right. and sometimes, i think it's super obvious but i guess wrong. it's interesting how much i've discovered about certain brands by just seeing their clothes over and over again and comparing them with other brands that are worlds apart in retail price but not in quality.
