I doubt anyone is gonna guess what game I'm referring to with this one. My friend and I started our own Vintage Story worlds to try something new and eventually run a proper online server to play with the rest of our friends on.

Now how was I reminded of Dragon Ball anyway? It happened when I was in the very early stages, before even having copper. The hunting and gathering reminded me of when Goku was hunting and gathering at the start of the series when he was living alone. Although, I think the reason was because I was having fun surviving. Some part of me must still yearn for simple survival and it lead me to having a lot of fun figuring out the systems with my friend on our own worlds. As of writing, I'm about to get enough copper that the guide recommend to move through the Early Copper Age. Hopefully this means I can finally start digging and fine out what's up with the gear stuff.
Although this game focuses on emulating realistic tech progression and survival more so than Minecraft, the game seems to have it's own mysteries. You can see how that manifests itself through the weird rifts and whatever the rust dimension is that the in-game guide mentions.
Lastly, them game has built in mod support. Although I can't say it's directly better than Minecraft because of how powerful Bedrock's creation tools are and the marketplace as a whole. When you consider my price model and how Java modding is complicated by many different loaders, then Vintage Story is defiantly ahead. That's about all I know though, go see for yourself.
Been playing DKCR again. I unlocked all the rewards in Ring Racers. Nine Souls is still on hold, but hope to return sometime for my bro. That's all I'll remember for now.
First multiplayer Vintage Story session.
I missed the first day because I was in class, but I made it on the
next day and had a lot of fun. We didn't end up using a server box, we
instead used Radmin VPN
to create a virtual LAN connection. We are currently in late copper age
and are starting to make bulk copper tools. Much better luck than my
world with very little ore pretty much everywhere I looked.
For those who don't know what Radmin VPN is. It's software that allows the creation of virtual LAN networks. This means we don't need to port forward to play game with LAN connection online. Just remember to turn off the VPN and to close it from the system tray to close it fully. The one big caveat is that it creates a virtual network device to work so some older games might not connect online properly, had to figure that out the hard way. You can uninstall Radmin VPN to remove the device, but I wonder if disabling it in device settings will work.

very real bit about mod support, mojang promised an official mod api more than a decade ago and they still haven't delivered on that. modding the game itself seems like a pain and there's always another modloader that claims to be the new standard because of some niche edge case that the 500 others out there don't cover. (much like that one competing standards xkcd comic)
I actually think Bedrock's creation tools are the echos of that promised API. The reason we don't see the same level of support on Java is because there isn't a marketplace there. I presume something (at Mojang and Microsoft probably but it could be demands and power of Java players) protects Java from becoming a controlled content platform (or strait up depreciated) so they built Bedrock to also compete and seize attention for profit. Even if Java is still getting about the same updates, beating it in content support is how they can take our money.

Playing Bedrock just feels sickening to me and i will always resent its existence for basically halving the speed of the update cycle as well as representing Microsoft's greed plainly outright.
if i ever figured out how to mod minecraft i'd do one of those things like Better Than Adventure just with my own changes/preferences and likely removing a lot of the bloat modern minecraft tends to have while keeping old terrain gen and block palette

Despite how accessible Bedrock is and what can be made in it, I ain't happy that it's trying to compete with Roblox either.
