Dave learns the Dorian b2 scale

I decided to start my musical education journey by embracing the fun of randomness–random printout from my days of taking lessons and trying to learn jazz. The Dorian b2 scale. I figured out the chords in the scale and tried to play some riffs. Definitely weird. Might be good for a metal riff or something latin. Haven't done anything terribly "musical" with it yet. No inspiration. Everything sounds kind of proggy... not in a good way... just like I am playing a scale. Gonna make a backing track Cm to D augmented (a i to II vamp) and see if I can't hum something better than my fingers have able to come up with.

Here is what I did using the C Dorian b2 scale. The melody doesn't quite stick to the scale but the harmony uses chords derived from the scale (Cm to Db aug).
