I'm just going to say it,..

You can't be a good writer if you exclude Black and other characters from your stories. Having a diverse and well rounded cast helps young people to feel seen.

Imagine you're in their shoes…

You've never seen yourself in anything before, but suddenly there is a friend that recommends a book that has a character that looks JUST like you. Or you see a preview of a show…or movie…

It makes you feel seen.

Especially characters with disabilities.

I.E there is a little girl on Tiktok that has a birth mark over her eye. When her parent showed her a Todoroki doll, she got extremely happy and talkative about it.

"He looks just like me, Mommy!"

Diversity helps. It shows the world that there are worlds where we are a part of. Where we're seen.
