OUTFIT (2)

hey!

i was challenged to a hat contest. as a fan of all things avante-garde, i decided to come up with something somewhat original.

- the outfit - 

• metal hat made from a steamer pot lined with a crochet beanie. miku sits on the hat.
• black trench coat
• grey/black psychedelic pattern buttonup
  
• blue/white floral pattern tie 
• charcoal grey slacks
• black laced dress shoes
• joy and whimsy

firstly, i crushed the competition.

secondly, pairing a sleek, monochrome outfit with miku as the splash of color has put this easily into my top 5 outfits of all time.

i wore this outfit to school today. i think the most important element of the outfit was the confidence i had in the avante-garde nature of affixing miku to a steamer pot and using that as headwear, as well as my own ability to style clothes. i embraced and almost idealized the silliness and had a really awesome day at school feeling like the coolest kid on campus (i might've actually been just for this one day). 

i caught a lot of stares, which used to humiliate me lots. but i think recently i've grown accustomed to having uniqueness as my goal, as opposed to trying to fit in or be accepted. when one stops trying to be acceptable to others, a multitude of bad feelings go away. shocker. also, i think this has inadvertently led to a popularity and respect which feels new to me. i don't mind it.
