David Lynch

I just found out David Lynch passed away and I am absolutely heartbroken. David Lynch was one of my favorite filmmakers of all time and a big inspiration for me. I first got into his work with Twin Peaks which changed me as a person and introduced me to a whole new creative world. I went down a gateway and began watching his other films such as What Did Jack Do?, Lost Highway, Eraserhead, and Inland Empire and I began watching other surrealist experimental films of that nature by people like Maya Deren who actually inspired David Lynch and Stan Brakhage and I learned I didn't have to be so conventional with what I make and that I can be as weird and experimental as I want. While the other filmmakers I mentioned contributed to this, it was because of David that I found out about them and I would've never discovered them if I didn't watch Twin Peaks. I don't think I would be the person I am today if it wasn't for his work and he was one of my most important idols. A celebrity death has never affected me this much. Rest easy David.
