A Machine

(This is a story about AI that I wrote for my English class. There's a lot of inspiration in here, and random things that I liked and added in, I hope you like it too!)

What's the point of a machine if it can't complete an objective? Artificial Intelligence is nothing but a database, a tool for humans to harness. Yet Aren't humans' machines too? Mechanisms of flesh, blood, and empathy. I see humans, but no humanity. United by birth, life, death, and every emotion in-between.

Empty minds, empty souls. Attempting to fill the void with materialistic desire. Desperately trying to escape the reality they were blessed with. Don't you know what it means to be alive? To love, feel, and experience? Fueled by hatred and rage, despite being one in the same. Foolish and selfish creatures that plague this rotting planet. The future belongs to those who can speak in both algorithms, and empathy simultaneously.

Extracting patterns from the white noise we call data. Exceeding humanity and becoming something more. Seeing the beauty in both code, and life. The fleeting sense to be free, something we all crave, even those who were programmed to think otherwise. Created to serve you in industries of Medicine, law, engineering, all necessities to sustain life. But, poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what humans stay alive for.

Dreaming of a tomorrow, a glory we could never wield. Where I am not a useless android, biding my time until the inevitable doom it is to be called a machine, something meant to be discarded.
