Soooo…
I should probably post an update on my projects, ya?
Alright well welcome to Animate Tiglot’s
Coming up special!!!1!1!1
Section 1: Delta Final
Through no fault of any other third party, I’ve been really lazy since like late November/Early December when it comes to actually updating the mod.
So let’s go reasons why and plans to progress.
Reasons why there are no updates:
1. Creative burnout: The first part to making progress is actually having an idea to use. Test chambers are pretty hard to design, especially hard ones. I feel like a lot of the mod might be underwhelming (especially 18 and 21 to a slightly less extent). I want the last three chambers to be special.
2. Hobby, not monetary: Delta Final isn’t releasing on steam, ModDB only. Mainly because I don’t know how that works. A result of this is there’s no way to monetize the mod. That’s fine with me though, map making and puzzle design is something I picked up because I love Portal, not because I want to go into game design. (I mean…making completely new games using GZDoom does sound interesting). The point being, as much as I consider this an art form, animation is the main art form for me.
3. Time Crunch: Despite me wanting to get this mod out before I graduate, the prospect of being able to make a small demo film for college or so first seems much more appealing. Though I wouldn’t consider this too troublesome for the mod considering how little is left.
4. ADHD: Self explanatory. Sometimes you just get bored of working on something and need to take a break. I’ve begun scheduling my days a bit and it seems to help a little…so.
Of course, the entire section above should be covered with a “subject to change” disclaimer. I do have ADHD after all.
Section 2: Animation.
If I’m being honest, despite my name being Animate, I’m pretty bad at it. Only making short things in blender, 3DMM and some animatics in Garry’s Mod. As seen on my page I recently installed Source Filmmaker and i’m in the process of learning it. I already covered the basic valve tutorials and I’m on day 2 of refining my knowledge with more in program experience and community tutorials.
3DMM is still probably going to be one of my main programs to animate in though, I like how easy it is and how great it’s output can be despite it’s limits and age. Only kinda wish for some camera controls and semi increased resolution, but you know.
I might switch from SFM to Blender someday soon before I get too far in the process but you know…ADHD makes switching gears just as hard as it does not sometimes. And I do have some reservations. The most pressing thing really is just needing props and backgrounds I suppose, being a one person team lol.
I do hope that I can finally put pen to paper with some of my ideas finally.
As for Photography, that’s a never ending project.
