hey my cuties,
my name is Matti, and I'm living as a disabled person in the US, meaning I'm basically in the unlocked tenth circle of hell.
I have borderline personality disorder and major depressive disorder, which I was diagnosed with in 2022 after a hospital stay. I was diagnosed with multiple physical ailments this year, including:
-fibromyalgia
-chronic fatigue syndrome
-adult onset asthma
-ptsd
-depression with psychoactive symptoms
I am, however, a card carrying member of the immunocompromised club! bc for some reason, illness is buy one get ten free. I was originally diagnosed with guillain barre syndrome when I was a child, in the mid 2000s. this most likely exacerbated any other health issues I would have later on in life, and the nerve pain/weakness that persisted from my gbs made it difficult to pinpoint the fibro
tldr; i'm sickly and have been since i was six hehe
I hope to use my blog to help other ppl either:
a. become better disability and mental health advocates
b. give other disabled ppl the ability to laugh, cry, and maybe steal some of my tips I've picked up over the years lol
today's pro tip:
winco (US grocery store) has new electrolyte packs called Pure Kick that are less than 5 cal, taste like jolly ranchers, and they're only 98 CENTS BABY!!!!!
For disabled ppl, especially if u regularly experience fatigue and muscle pain, electrolytes help to replenish these overactive muscles with the nutrients they are burning during these episodes of pain and exhaustion. however, electrolytes are $$$$ generally, so these weird little dudes are my current lifesavers that don't require me to cash out my IRA
If u drink coffee or other caffeinated drinks, I'd recommend drinking one of the electrolyte packs in water w the coffee bc as a diuretic, coffee WILL hurt u and make muscle pain worse if u don't counteract it
I'd love to have u guys share tips for taking care of urself, whether disabled or not (but especially if you are disabled/chronically ill pls we need to take care of each other)
lmk how you all deal with the torment of being alive, love ya <3
-Matti
