One of the most upsetting parts about being, what most would consider, chronically online is probably the level of indifference that people hold to the individual struggles and triumphs of their fellow human being. Like, yes, some problems are so trivial and so minuscule that you may feel the need to roll your eyes and move on because it won't matter in a few days or maybe even a few hours, but just because the world refused stop for you doesn't mean you should make someone feel ashamed for taking the time to stop for themselves.
Yes, the world kept spinning after User986314297's friends didn't sit with them at lunch, it didn't even slow down when someone used the wrong pronouns for them at a family gathering, but it didn't stop when you failed your SAT either. It didn't stop when you graduated or when the girl you liked rejected you, someone's life would remain completed unchanged if you were to drop dead right now; The world will keep spinning. So if you, as someone who is aware of the gravity of your own personal issues, can feel the full depth of all of your emotions and have the capacity to feel even a little bit sorry for yourself and stop for even a moment to wallow in that self pity, why should you have the audacity to remind someone of an insignificance that you both share?
Indifference isn't cute and it isn't funny when half of you are so genuinely mean spirited and sad that your indifference translates into ridicule the second a human being dares to feel human. The world kept spinning when civilizations ended but those civilizations began and ended, lived and died all the same. The world kept spinning when we discovered space travel and when the queen of fucking England took her final breath.
Most people who complain about the mundane are aware that a world exists beyond their problems, but they are also aware that they are not the entire world and that two statement can be true at once. Right now you can be absolutely devastated that you have no friends, no real kinship with your family, and no goals or aspirations for yourself, but you can also understand that everything is temporary and that circumstances change and people, despite their capacity to do evil things, are absolutely amazing. The world will keep spinning when you trip on a public sidewalk, the world won't stop for even a moment when your friends inevitably find their own paths and leave you. That doesn't mean that you should rush to match its pace because the world will keep spinning no matter how slow you run.
The world kept spinning not because your problems don't matter, but because eventually you will keep spinning too. It's okay if you need a moment to stand still and feel sad, to feel angry or disgusted at some stupid online discourse, because you are not the world and you don't have to keep spinning just because someone else wants to see you perform.
My point is, YOUR PROBLEMS AREN'T IRRELEVANT JUST BECAUSE THE WORLD DIDN'T STOP FOR YOU!! Even the stupid things matter because nothing is stupid on a floating rock!!
