Q: if you were to send 10 artists to north korea...

so my friend and i were chatting, and let's just say we got into some WILD conversation...

North Korea has recently had a change in government. They want to open their borders to the culture of the world and globalize. Now... IF YOU WERE TO SEND 10 ARTISTS ON TOUR IN NORTH KOREA, WHO WOULD BE ON THE SET?

  1. Jacob Collier. he's only just the most confident and skilled musical identity of our generation. he is sure to bring a spiritual experience with original compositions plus amazing covers of artists all over the last century. audience choir hmm??

  2. Kendrick Lamar. had to pick ONE rapper. might as well pick kendrick. themes of mistakes, growth, racism, and family, as well as undeniable modernity and musicality.

  3. NewJeans. south korean pop music might cause a bit of a cultural identity crisis in North Korea, but it's fire and they're cute sooo... yeah!

  4. Emmet Cohen Trio with Patrick Bartley, Sean Jones, Phillip Norris, and Bruce Harris. this is the quintessential jazz lineup of the 21st century - young, hip, yet very well versed in old blood. we are sure to hear the wildest stuff from these cats. downright spiritual.

  5. Aphex Twin and Charlie XCX. let's say they duo and take turns DJing each other's music. wouldn't that just melt faces off? get the entire nation dancing to some wild stuff.

  6. Kim So-Hee. pansori singer with accompanying musicians from the album. traditional korean opera hits hard.

  7. Queen Tribute Band w/ Brian May and Roger Taylor. must play Queen no matter what. i think we should get the actor for the Bohemian Rhapsody movie to sub in for Freddie, or summon a Freddie hologram. they have to at least see his style of performance.

  8. Kazuhito Yamashita. classical guitar performance - complete replica of the Pictures at An Exhibition PLUS other repertoire. this is sure to devastate any crowd.

  9. Gene Koshinksi. ...And So The Wind Blew and other groovy percussion.

  10. Sacbé. JAZZ FUSION JAZZ FUSION JAZZ FUSION.

let me know what you think!! i'm still rethinking 9 and 10...
