not a usual blog again, but i have nowhere else to talk about. why do people hate henryk so much? i think he is very neat, and admittedly he reminds me of my boyfriend. hes a 32 year old former artist and talented chef from rondon, has nothing about his lore or background which makes him mysterious, yet opens up a little about how he wanted to become a chef. worked at his parents' tavern by helping cook meals, later becomes a bartender where he had a fling with a pianist. talks about how he had always dreamed of becoming someone important by creating a masterpiece rather it be acting, art, etc as he dipped his toes into everything, but didnt take well to rejection and gave up on those plans. from that alone, i think he is very relatable as a person as i feel everyone else would too. not a lot of people can handle rejection as its like being told that you are unacceptable as it is a judgement of their worth and value as a person. eventually henryk ran out of money so he returned to his parents' tavern where he cooked again, realizing he has a talent in culinary arts, and his cooking made it so that Klimkov's became a famous place to eat and made it into the newspaper. so after his success, he frequently travelled across the world to venture new culinary inspirations, ending him up in prehevil. from that, i feel thats when people find him boring. but i see it as like looking in the mirror, seeing a realistic character similar to an everyday person besides tanaka and i think its nice. he doesnt have a traumatic backstory, he doesnt have insane strength, hes just a chef who has a life goal of being someone important and impacting the world in his own way. when you talk to him, his main interest seems to just be cooking as it appears to be the only thing he enjoys, and seems laid back but gives off a low self esteem as hes often trying to seek approval from contestants with his cooking and seems devastated when people dont enjoy it. he sometimes comes off impulsive as he makes a few perverted remarks towards abella and tries to start a fight with caligura which gets him killed depending on what options you choose, but i believe that its also really realistic to me as well. its like 1942, so i feel historically it would make sense for henryk to act like that towards abella, and with caligura its clear hes afraid and inexperienced, yet hes trying to do the right thing in stopping caligura. i feel like he would be enjoyable to play as alongside tanaka, and i would love to recruit him as well, but its obvious he doesnt serve too much purpose compared to abella as he only gives you sewer keys for saving him. and i find the fact that the later the festival goes on the more paranoid he gets, causing him to spike all the food with poison and killing all the contestants before running off in a panic and moonscorching anyway. its like he is afraid of the inevitable, yet tries to stop it anyway and then gets consumed in his own fear. i just enjoy seeing realistic characters in impossible situations, imagining the choices youd have to make. if you cant tell i just really fucking love henryk he makes me very happy
