the ferocious squeakers, norway lemmings

hello friends! today i'm gonna tell you about my current favourite animal: the norway lemming!

norway lemmings are often called norwegian lemmings, and they're small, colourful rodents about the size of a syrian hamster. they live in the snowy tundra, and prefer to live near water. adult norway lemmings will feed on moss and grass. they are active both day and night, and take naps between periods of activity. they are one of the largest lemmings in the world!

the norway lemming's body is round and pudgy, with thick fur to help keep it warm in its icy climate. the fur is black and brown, with pretty golden yellow bands around it.

norway lemmings spend the winter season in nests under the snow, but when spring comes, they either have to migrate to higher ground where there is still snow, or lower ground, where they spend the warmer months. they are solitary creatures, and produce lots of babies, a litter of 6 to 8 babies every 3 to 4 weeks!

my favourite thing about norway lemmings, though, is how spicy they are! when they feel cornered or threatened, they'll lash out in a barrage of angry squeaks! they are highly aggressive and very brave, but quiet down once they're picked up.
