Ghostbusters Afterlife

After the Paul Feig fiasco (though don’t get me wrong, I’m not mad at the 2016 reimagining) I was wary of this new Ghostbusters revival from Jason Reitman, whose father did the first two original Ghostbusters movies. The cast looked good, the plot looked good, and the involvement from so many veteran cast gave me high hopes.

I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan. I was Egon for like 3 Halloweens when I was a kid. I had the 3-level Firehouse HQ with the slime grates in the center. I had the proton pack, PKE meter, and a “functional” trap. I even had my own ‘Spengler’ marked jumpsuit. The cartoons, the games, the Ecto Coolers… Ghostbusters is a franchise that has stuck with me for decades.

I am glad I am able to give Ghostbusters Afterlife a solid 9/10!!

The movie introduces us to Phoebe (McKenna Grace), a 12 year old whose love for science and cracking mysteries far outweighs her sense of caution. With the help of her brother (Finn Wolfhard), new friend Podcast (Logan Kim) and teacher, Mr. Gruberson (Paul Rudd), they work to uncover the mysteries of her grandfather’s dirt farm and the mysterious Shandor mine that seems to be housing something heinous.

We later find out (though the answer was given in the first 10 minutes) that Phoebe is the granddaughter of the legendary Ghostbuster Egon Spengler.

I won’t give away any more or anymore cast/cameos, but it is definitely a must see for the fans of nostalgia and reboots, as well as those wanting to become acquainted with the Ghostbusters universe.

I very much love the movie due to the fact that its didn't feel like it was trying to be a Ghostbuster movie but a continuation of it.
