Mary is a virgin
Who holds onto John at night
Praying that John doesn’t know
The simple feeling to let go
John’s knows what it’s like
To hold onto stinging repulsion
And the fear of autonomy
When two people come together
At night in the midst of sleep
John and Mary are young and alive
And find comfort in that fear
That comfort soon leads to rebellion
Leading them to twist and turn
Mary never gives John any pleasure
She only lays down on the bed
It is all she’s ever known
Without knowing John get’s bored
Wishing she did a little more
Mary plucks off all of her petals
John is the man with the stem
But his stem is just pure frustration
And he begins to turn it in
John’s boredom becomes anti-rebellion
And he lays down Mary one last time
But this time, he keeps all her petals
He just turns to the other side
Yet still holds Mary in the night
It was probably best what John did,
that would fear would never go away
As long as they could hold each other
No more sin, sweat, dirt and grime
But one night when the lights turned off
And they began to lay again
They held each other for a while
Then slept for what felt like millennia
When John woke up, he realized
Mary was nothing more than a slag
An idea, a judgment she was
John wanted Anne-Marie
Anne-Marie from his favorite magazine
Anne-Marie who lived down the street
Anne-Marie who was the savior
Anne-Marie, she had to be
The one to replace Mary for good
The one to start all over again
John liked the flesh of man,
John liked the sound of girl
Did John ever love Mary?
Or was Mary was just a slot before
Anne-Marie could show up at the door
And greet John with a kiss on the cheek
Turning him young as he was with Mary
John threw Mary out to the street
With nothing but a nickel and 3 dimes
Mary left with her old flower
And met Ben at the corner-store
Ben looked just John if he had
Two sideburns and an inch tall
Ben could look like John
With the way he wore clothes
Mary fell into the arms of Ben
Because his sweater looked like John’s
So Ben took Mary to the parking lot
and they sat on his dads broken car
Mary laid right next to Ben
pretending that he was her John
Ben took out a porno video
and he started to jack off
She let him do it anyway
It wasn’t a surprise to her
This is the type love she gets
When John isn’t around anymore
John is out with Anne-Marie
Picking lilies by the bay
He likes to put them in her hair
He once did with Mary too
But John could care less at this point
Mary died inside the shower
Ben was in the living room
Mary died from a broken wire
Wishing John had seen her go
