tv girl cd covers but i turned them into my ocs!!!

i am just realizing this is gonna be the first time i'm gonna show my art on here, how exciting!

context? 

a little backstory/context bc i like to yap; i started making my own cds i believe in 2022 because i bought a cd player and of course with that i bought some blank cds. at first i only had ten so i made a bunch of like "mixtapes" instead of any full albums. like it was just a jumble of my favorite songs by some of my favorite artists on one cd. tv girl was apart of that ten. they actually got 2 of the cds, one entirely dedicated to The Night in Question because i realized i didn't put any of those songs on the "mixtape" one. on christmas last year my mom got me 400 FUCKING BLANK CDS??? fuckign CRAZY right. i was like oh awesome now i can make cd with full albums on them. now, i know instead of literally stealing and burning the albums myself i could just yk BUY them. but i can't. it's not that cds are super expensive or anything. i have bought cds before. but i am VERY fuckin broke and spending money i don't have on cds is just not a great idea. also i have 400* (future edit, i misremembered the actual amount GREATLY, it was actually 200, not 400 lmao) (well way less than that now) blank cds to fill now so there is no point in me buying anything official if i can just steal it make it myself. the only thing that sucks is i don't have a printer so i can't get the actual album artwork on the cds :(.

AND THAT LEADS US TO THE ACTUAL SUBJECT MATTER!!!! i don't have a printer, so not only can i not print on the cd's but i also can't print out the the album covers. i don't have jewel cases for all my cds of course, only for a few of my favorites so far. sooo i started to draw the covers myself!!! i don't think i'm gonna draw all the covers tho because well some covers are a lot weirder/harder than others. and some just don't look very fun to draw tbh even tho i love the albums.

i did these all yesterday. these pictures are shitty so i edited them so they can pop lol. i was pretty sad all day yesterday (surprising, i know /s) and did these to like idk shut my brain up. i wasn't expecting it to work but it did?? i actually had lots of fun doing these. 

it was a bad day to be my favorite black marker. poor thing was fuckin ABUSED. you can see the it crying for help in the last one. i used sharpies for the first one which is why the black looks a bit cooler. they were old so the ink wasn't doin too well. i had i swap between 2 so i wouldn't kill the ink in one. i changed the shading on the night in question because i didn't wanna use any more black than i already did. i think it looks pretty yummy.

a little bit about the characters n stuff

okay, i'll shut up after this one but just wanna talk about why i did this and why i used these ocs in particular. so first off, why did i change the covers anyways? well truth is, i just didn't wanna draw those people LOL. that's like the main reason tbh. but the second reason is because i associate a lot of my ocs with a lot of music, a LOT of which is tv girl's music (i fucking love tv girl). 

so, the guy and the girl in the first two at tha top are Sean and Rae. they are like???? in a kinda lowkey toxic situationship? i don't wanna say toxic but like they don't know how to communicate the way they feel about each other to each other...which is really bad lol. neither of them really knows what the other wants, but they don't wanna lose each other, so they fuck around instead of talking about it? they tell everyone they aren't together, but they are like??? in love??? but won't talk about it because it will make everything too real and change. it's fun i love torturing my ocs. i feel like there are songs in both of these albums that fit them well.

the girl at the bottom is Ash. she is like a secondary main character ig in sean and rae's story. she's sean's "friend" and bandmate. friend in quotation bc she lowkey doesn't really care for sean and only hangs out with him because of their mutual friend and other bandmate. i picked her for this album mainly because of the song "Valerie" that fits her pretty well. Ash is sorta a huge bitch who hates the would and hates everyone in it including herself. she just wants to be alone all the time and kill herself slowly with drugs and alcohol.

i would like to talk about them some more some day (and the other characters in this universe, tho i have to admit these 3 are my favorites) but not here bc this is too fucking long already!!!!
