This was the strangest night I have ever experienced

It was a Wednesday night. I fell on a deep, peaceful slumber when all of a sudden, a tall man in a green shirt woke me up in the middle of the night. He screamed on my face, telling me there's a high possiblity that some sort of monster is lurking around the confines of my house! What?!! I've never seen that man in my life before, he just shows up one night out of thin air and tells me this?! Things were only getting started

The man adviced me not to show any signs of fear. According to him, creatures of the night possess the ability to detect fear through their powerful and strong nostrils. Luckily, the man happened to own the necessary equipment to deal with monsters: a torch. He adviced me to put one on my porch, then one on my hallway. After doing what he requested me, he demanded I pay him fifty dollars for his services. However, a new problem had occured out of the blue: the torches I put caused a fire!

The man acknowledged the grim nature of the current situation. Luckily, he reassured me that he made sure to come prepared in certain occurrences. He pulls out a water bottle from his pocket, hands it over to me and tells me to pour the whole thing on a bucket. After doing what he specifically asked for, I put out the fire and the crisis had been averted. Everything seemed fine, until the man demanded five hundred dollars as an extra for his services! Once I told him that I cannot pay that amount, he told me he would communicate with my parents to settle the matter. After that, he simply walked away and vanished.

Who on earth was that man? Why did he come to my place specifically? Do my parents have some sort of relationship with that man? Was that whole a thing a prank pulled by a friend of my older brother? All I know for certain is, that he must be some kind of an exorcist, due to his monster hunting nature. I told my parents about the whole thing this morning, and they told me I'm nuts.
