[Rambles] Thoughts on Disc 2 of Final Fantasy IX

So, I've been slowly, but surely, playing through Final Fantasy IX for the past 2 or so months. I only get about 30 minutes to play it each day, so that's why progress is so slow. Also, this post is going to mostly be a random smattering of thoughts on the game so far. Jesus christ, I was not expecting so much death and destruction going into this game. Like seriously, I was not expecting to see multiple places get COMPLETELY OBLITERATED. Like I can't stress enough how Cleyra just fucking CEASED TO EXIST. This game's feeling of loss is intense, which like, I wasn't expecting from the opening parts.

Vivi learning about how he is a tool for destruction, the morality of fighting with other Black Mages, and about his looming death was heartbreaking to watch. He's just a baby dude.

Freya reuniting her long lost love was a little glossed over, at least for now. He's got amnesia and doesn't remember her and all she's like is "Isn't that Ironic. Guess I'll cry or smth idk". Felt a little rushed and I hope they focus a bit more on it later.

Quina is a character, and eats things. At least it's a cool gameplay mechanic. Learning new spells like that is pretty fun.

The accents in Conde Petie were annoying and hard to read for me at times, but I guess that's the point. Watching Quina get married to Vivi was precious though, and kinda made up for the weird accent bullshit.

Eiko and Mog are cool characters, and it's kinda sad that they live in the ruins like that, but me and Zidane both thinking that Mog wasn't a girl was pretty funny to me.

Gargants are cool and awesome and I want one, and everyone absolutely going insane over their hatred of Oglops is fucking hilarious to me.

Also Amarant exists. His design is cool, but his in-game model kinda looks like ass. Though, to be fair, that's probably the only way you could really do that design in such a low poly count.

Oh, and also Beatrix is a bitch, but she's a cool bitch, which technically makes her a bad bitch and I like her, but she's kinda done nothing but betray the queen so far (who is now dead btw) and say sorry to Freya, so we'll see what happens.

Overall, definitely still really good so far. I've gotta see this one through.
