today sucked. however, i listened to deftones for the first time and i can safely say im going to really love this band. thats always slightly reassuring (that whatever is wrong with me can be effectively distracted by a nice tune.) the album i listened to was around the fur- man, do i love that there's a 37 minute long closer. (even if theres a chunk of silence.) i think more artists should be weird like that.

MX takes the trophy for "longest song i like" from echoes by pink floyd (24 minutes). the previous-previous contestant was anchorite by csh, and that was only 14.

btw, did you know maroon 5 made an 11 minute song called closure? far be it from me to suggest maroon 5 but. standard song for the first few minutes then the rest is just instrumental. i like it a lot. as far as i know, its like, the only time they did that. i guess they took a break from making songs about scary women having hate sex with adam levine. actually, closure is kind of about hate sex. sort of. it's still pretty good. (i like the way he sings "if you want closure, come on and close the doOR" like he's capitalizing it)

by the way, as a side note, i will never not be pissed that gym class heroes's most popular song is their feature of adam fucking levine. not only does it scream the particular type of mainstream disdain for rap that sets my teeth on edge (u know the type. your mom saying "oh i dont hate hip hop its just that all of it is sooo misogynistic") but also i would argue it's not even close to their best song.

back to deftones- uh, i lied. i've listened to one of their songs before today, but it's the cover of please please please let me get what i want, and i feel like a cover doesn't really count. or whatever.

smoooth segway.... today i also made a playlist of songs i think sound how my brain sounds. this is annoying to talk about because it could very easily slide into "oh im so fucked up you should all feel bad for me" territory. but people do have a tendency that when someone just talks about their lived experiences to assume that theyre attention seeking. you get it? anyway, mine's mostly loud and abrasive music. i also included maya the psychic on there!!!

i saw the schedule for wwwy festival, and im so hyped. im not going in person because no way i could afford tickets (400 fucking dollars??? just kill me and call it even) and no way i could convince my parents to let me hitchhike to vegas just so i can be like, 400 feet from mikey way, but i'll be watching streams. fob and mcr's first-day show might coincide with my homecoming dance. either i bring my laptop and try to watch it in a loud gymnasium, or i skip hoco. i kind of wanted to skip it anyway. or soak myself in pig blood and run around shrieking.

glad panic "broke up" before they could play at wwwy cause if brendon at the urie tried to perform anything from fever (or god fucking forbid pretty. odd.) some ryan ross warrior might actually kill him. and im looking forward to saves the day and thurday being right next to each other (yayy!)

walked home in the dark today and didn't die. also.
