new mental crisis: dumbphone ?

so i’ve been thinking about doing this for a while but the Boy thing has sort of pushed me over the edge

i realized like i embarrass myself basically impulsively on instagram and it’s truly parasocial

so i deleted it.

and i moved stuff around made it harder to access “social apps” so all thats on my homescreen is banking, school stuff, dropout (college humor) and youtube and tiktok

i will at some point work to get rid of tiktok but it doesn’t feel as detrimental so far because i have gotten better at clocking when i’m doomscrolling and realizing when it’s time to stop

and it’s an addiction tbh. baby steps

i wish i could get an mp3 player and a flip phone and with my camera be content but right now

dumb smart phone

we’re working on it. i’m not gonna waste any more conscious time on stuff that is not serving me or my reputation in a positive way

- Get an IBM ThinkPad, only use the internet on that either at home or whenever you bring it, learn how to use Gentoo Linux and maybe even terminal-only applications (this itself ironically requires a ton of time on tech at first, but once you get used to it, you can do things way faster and you'll also likely increase your typing speed in the process, which will save you even more time)
- Don't bring any device on you unless you have to, and as you intend to do, use a dumbphone or something else of the sort

In the case of emergencies, presuming the phone broke that moment or it will take too long for help to arrive, it is best to be prepared for the situation yourself (medical supplies for medical situation, weaponry for self-defense, etc). Of course I doubt one could be prepared for a list of 500,000 scenarios at once and be able to move around, but one could still prepare for the more likely ones.
