September 23th...maybe around 1 AM
Conjuring 1 and 2 aren't scary at all. They're like the classics and "must" watch of horror. Anybody who is into horror has usually already seen them, they said. Well, I just finished them. I was more used to watch horrors like American Psycho, Pearl or Midsommar (the classics of Tiktok, unfortunetly) but never the modern classics, like Scream, IT or the Exorcist. Well, Netflix is taking them down soon, in the beginning of October, so here am I, hurrying up.
I almost fell asleep while watching the first Conjuring. Of course, the cold and dirty appearance was iconic but I found it more funny than scary. I always thought horror movies were a taboo in my family, but my mom told me that she didn't mind me watching them, except that I won't be watching it with her because it scares her too much (I don't remember giving an invitation).
Anyway, not much to say about Conjuring, but I do admire the effort in the second one.
Around midnight, I started room 1408. I had already heard people talk about Stephen King at school but I never truly paid attention. Room 1408...is interesting. Your own insanity traps you in there and makes you feel incredibly vulnerable, by pulling out your regrets from your flesh. Mike was probably going crazy in there because he got influenced by the other stories in the past. One incident happened in 1912, and the others influenced each other like dominos falling down into craziness. I am sure that if someone who wasn't aware of the gore incidents that occured in the room, they wouldn't have gone crazy. But others believe that Stephen King was actually trying to write about a devil who oppressed that room. A ghost that made it evil. Perhaps the other victims of the room?
But everyone believes in what they want, like Mike said.
My opinion remains the same: Mike went crazy because of his weakening mental state at that moment (with the death of his daughter) and the other incidents AND Oslin's warnings. Each of these factors are highly alerting and paranoia-inducing for someone who usually doesn't believe in ghosts, especially with the proof of the old victims death (and even perhaps that alcohol that he kept spraying in his mouth...). Everything; a hallucination.
Or maybe not?
After all, it's a Stephen King book. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the good ol' lame spooky malevolant supernatural being who shakes the living shit out of the MC. So, I prefer my theory. But of course, I am open to any other ideas. What do you think, ladies?
Oct. 6th. 8 AM.
I'm completely exhausted. Yesterday was my bday party but tomorrow is my real bday. it's like a weird in between. Now that I think about it, I was born an unlucky day. But anyway, the theme of the party was horror, ofc, and I invited my pussy friends to watch horror movies with me. Most of them were scared asf when we watched hereditary, my bestfriends favourite movies but it left me pretty interested instead of traumatized.
I wonder if there are hidden cults just right besides us, in our community, that we are unaware of. Maybe the lost of a loved one can bring us into insanity and so much desperation, we still try the impossible such as reaching them. Is it a psychotic state or just belief and hope? All of this is in reference to Hereditary, that I suggest anyone to watch. Darn engrossing movie.
I'm on my way to finish Midsommar and start Babadook now.
10 AM. - Finished Midsommar
What the actual fuck was that.
OK so I first got interested in the movie because Bjorn Andrésen (I love him sooo much) but I never thought the movie will take such a dark turn. By the preview of the movie, I just thought it'll be a normal thriller movie with a couple trying to survive. But oh boy I was wrong.
28 oct.
Like the title now says, I'll stop writing in this blog since I literally have letterboxd now
